About the exhibition
The Deutsche Künstlerbund is glad to announce thesolo exhibition »Blendung« of the artist Nana Petzet . Nana Petzet, who in 2023 received the HAP Grieshaber-Preis der VG Bild-Kunst,enables a unique view into her new artistic reserach on species protection in this exhibition. Her works are characterized by their intensive examination of the interconnections between nature, art and science. As. As an artist, she usesthe methods and practicesof these disciplines and questions themin innovative ways.In the exhibition “Blendung” Nana Petzet shows “a walk-in publication with an integrated experimental setup” in the rooms of the German Artists’ Association. The installation consists of a cross-room sound work and six intermedia stations that focus on the nocturnal living space. Presented for the first time are the results of a scientific study of the complex effects of artificial light sources on the behavior of nocturnal insects. In close collaboration with the entomologist Timo Zeimet, the artist examined the question of what the loss of night and with it a habitat due to the permanent disruption of human intervention means. As part of the exhibition “Death in Venice” at the Gallery for Landscape Art in Bad Tölz, Nana Petzet transformed the light that was originally installed in a parking lot to protect people into an attracting system for insects.
With the exhibition “Blendung” Nana Petzet offers an inspiring insight into her multi-layered, artistic approach, in which she uses scientific methods as a tool and basic material at the same time.
