expeditions in aesthetics and sustainability
Catalog | Reading book | Coloring book | Building instructions
We need visions for a sustainable future life, which will combine sensuality, pleasure, and the desire to act for oneself. Examples to Follow would like to encourage awareness of the cultural and aesthetic dimensions of sustainability. Over forty works represent the fields of art, design, architecture, and technology; they range from objects made out of recycled products, to a project that matches needy Europeans with foster families in Africa or Asia, to a floating island where clean water can be made by physical activity.
This publication draws attention to the fact that sustainability is not possible without the arts and sciences. From them, we learn how to think about transitions, models, projects, and the provisional. This opens up the boundaries between artistic and technological creativity, between feasibility and ideas. The catalogue includes until now 18 additional artistspages, created by the artists that became part of the exhibition during the tour. The catalogue has been produced (graphic design, printing, manufacturing of garnetted stock bags) exclusively in the area of Berlin. Paper and color are ecological based products.
