<p class="western"><strong>About the exhibition<br /></strong><span>The Deutsche Künstlerbund </span><span>is glad to announce the</span><span>solo exhibition »Blendung« of the artist <a href="https://zur-nachahmung-empfohlen.de/en/project/nana-petzet/">Nana Petzet</a></span> <span>. Nana Petzet, who in 2023</span> <span> received the HAP Grieshaber-Preis der VG Bild-Kunst,</span><span>enables</span> <span>a unique view into her</span> <span>new</span> <span>artistic reserach</span> <span>on</span> <span>species</span> <span>protection</span> <span>in</span> <span>this exhibition.</span> <span>Her works</span><span> </span><span>are characterized by their intensive examination of the interconnections between</span> <span>nature,</span> <span>art</span> <span>and science.</span> <span>As</span><span>. As an artist, she uses</span><span>the</span> <span>methods and practices</span><span>of these disciplines and questions them</span><span>in</span> <span>innovative ways.</span></p>
<p class="Pa1"><span>In the exhibition “Blendung” Nana Petzet shows “a walk-in publication with an integrated experimental setup” in the rooms of the German Artists’ Association. The installation consists of a cross-room sound work and six intermedia stations that focus on the nocturnal living space. Presented for the first time are the results of a scientific study of the complex effects of artificial light sources on the behavior of nocturnal insects. In close collaboration with the entomologist Timo Zeimet, the artist examined the question of what the loss of night and with it a habitat due to the permanent disruption of human intervention means. As part of the exhibition “Death in Venice” at the Gallery for Landscape Art in Bad Tölz, Nana Petzet transformed the light that was originally installed in a parking lot to protect people into an attracting system for insects.</span></p>
<p class="Pa1">With the exhibition &#8220;Blendung&#8221; Nana Petzet offers an inspiring insight into her multi-layered, artistic approach, in which she uses scientific methods as a tool and basic material at the same time.</p>

<p><strong>In October and November, at the invitation of Ute Langanky, the Stiftung Insel Hombroich welcomes artist <a href="https://zur-nachahmung-empfohlen.de/en/project/hannah-schneider/">Hannah Schneider </a>to the Raketenstation Hombroich guest studio.</strong></p>
<p>Hannah Schneider works across genres in various media and materials with a focus on installation, public space, performative action, film, and drawing. Her works are based on an ongoing preoccupation with central sculptural themes, such as body and space, mass and proportion, or movement and statics. They explore the relationship of the body to the surrounding space in objects, installations, and performative film works. Architecture and landscape have a direct influence on the predominantly site-specific installations. Aspects of temporality, evident for example in the evaporation of water or the migration of shadows over the course of a day, are negotiated in their works. Time and space, light and shadow, movement and gravity play an ever-changing role.</p>
<p>Hannah Schneider&#8217;s artistic practice is particularly concerned with the physical properties of space as well as the ephemeral processes in nature. <strong>During her guest residency at Raketenstation Hombroich, she will create large-format prints of the pond surfaces, which she will make accessible to visitors as part of an open guest studio.</strong></p>

<p>The Cultural Foundation Rostock e.V. and the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock are awarding the Rostock Art Prize for the 17th time this year. The aim of the prize is to recognize and promote artists who live in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania or whose biography and work has a connection to the region. The genre should change every year. For 2023, the art prize will be offered for object art for the first time. The exhibition of works by the nominees provides an overview of their artistic work. The artists chose their work themselves.</p>
<p>The jury nominated four candidates from the pool of 41 applicants, including 2 positions that have been represented at ZNE for many years:</p>

<p>The exhibition project spans the arc from the historic production site of the Otto textile company to the present and future. Parallel to the IBA’27 Festival, in July 2023, action lectures and collaborative exchange will be added along and across the river.</p>
<p>The Neckar spinning mill of the Otto textile company in Wendlingen-Unterboihingen is one of the most important industrial monuments in south-west Germany and is to be developed into a future-oriented living and working area in the context of IBA&#8217;27. [&#8230;]</p>
<p>Spatially highly concentrated, the development of industrial culture from the 19th to the second half of the 20th century can be seen today on the industrial area, on which production was still taking place until 2020. Work processes typical of the time, technical pioneering achievements, but also the social conditions of the textile industry at that time can be understood there.</p>
<p>The exhibition project along and across the river follows these traces and invites artists to engage artistically and reflectively with the Otto company context. Based on historical archive material and site-specific investigations, questions of the former yarn production of the Otto company in the transcontinental network of the textile and cotton industry are examined in connection with overarching, current and future aspects.</p>
<p>How has industrialization and series production determined our humanity to this day? What understanding of work has developed in industrial society? How do we face the global changes that we humans have brought about since the beginning of industrialization, in the age of the Anthropocene, today and in the future?</p></div>

<p><span>The Gdynia City Museum has chosen <a href="https://zur-nachahmung-empfohlen.de/en/project/jakub-szczesny/">Jakub Szczęsny</a> as the protagonist of the latest exhibition in the Polish Projects Polish Designer series.</span></p>
<blockquote>
<p><span>We had no doubt that his eclectic work would allow us to delve deeper into the theme we chose to focus on this year &#8211; design and society.</span></p>
<p>In the exhibition we show how architecture and design are intertwined and what interesting things can arise at the interface between them. We take a closer look at micro homes that are particularly popular during the pandemic. We ask ourselves whether we as a society really need more and more space. Or is it perhaps worth saying &#8220;no&#8221; to excessive consumption for the common good?</p>
<p>We juxtapose the unique Keret House and repetitive (albeit adaptable) modular micro houses to address the theme of minimalism and limitation as societally important values. We create an interesting tension between architecture and design &#8211; Jakub Szczęsny&#8217;s installations in public space, intended as architecture in action, as a kind of performance. All this to draw attention to the social dimension of design.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.atelierhausaachen.de/index.php/ausstellungen/314-kunst-stoff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exhibition KUNST:STOFF</a> is not only aimed at visitors interested in art and culture, but also at a broad target group of people of all ages. Every year, more than 400 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide &#8211; a total of unimaginable 8.3 billion tons of plastics have been produced so far. Each of us creates a global average of around 0.74kg of waste per day (see sources: aktivaktiv.de / wwf.de). According to the latest studies, plastic has not only been detected in living beings in the deepest sea, but also in the human bloodstream.</p>
<p>The exhibition visualizes the large amounts of plastic that we use every day and that are often left behind as waste in the environment. Contrary to what we know about its environmental impact, global production continues to increase every year. An art exhibition that illuminates this topic from a completely different perspective should change the personal perspective of the viewer and make people more sensitive to personal contact. [&#8230;]</p>
<p><span><a href="https://zur-nachahmung-empfohlen.de/en/project/swaantje-guentzel/">Swaantje Güntzel</a> addresses the alienated relationship between man and nature. It reveals the inconsistency of our actions and the hypocrisy of our value system and draws attention to the thoughtless exploitation of the environment in the industrialized global economy. </span><span>[&#8230;]</span></p>
<p><span><a href="https://zur-nachahmung-empfohlen.de/en/project/dodi-reifenberg/">Dodi Reifenberg</a> has been making reference to environmentally relevant issues with his projects for some time: Almost all of his works are made of plastic bags. This is intended to draw the viewer&#8217;s attention to the tacit acceptance of the damage that plastic waste does to our environment. [&#8230;]</span></p></div>

<blockquote><p>During my &#8220;government internship&#8221; I experienced that people think strictly in terms of departments and responsibilities. The mentality prevails: &#8220;Don&#8217;t interfere in my area. Cooperation only if it doesn&#8217;t cost me anything.&#8221; That scared me quite a bit. And in the juries for cultural promotion, the divisional thinking just continued. It became clear to me that we have to support transdisciplinary projects, we need that more urgently than ever today. We must not leave the state of the world to the experts in politics and economics. They will not provide any solutions.</p></blockquote>
